THE GAZA MONOLOGUES
December 7th, 7 pm, Sandglass Theater, Putney, VT
December 21st, 7 pm, New England Youth Theater, Brattleboro, VT
*PLEASE NOTE: each performance will feature an entirely different set of monologues*
Thirty-three young people from Gaza believed in 2010 that they have a voice other than the cries of fear and the moans of frustration. A voice that can rise higher than the drones of war and the planes that bombarded them day and night. A voice that says: “Enough!!! We deserve a world better than this, a world without fear, siege or occupation.”
Brattleboro area community members present ASHTAR Theatre's Gaza Monologues: The Gaza Monologues are testimonies written by ASHTAR youth in 2010, after the first war on the Gaza Strip. Tragically, these Monologues are still accurate today, exposing the horrors, hopes and resilience of courageous Gazans to a wider audience and highlighting the voices of the children of Gaza. The December 7th performance will feature monologues from 2010, 2014 and 2023. The December 21st performance will feature an entirely different slate of monologues written in November 2024. Both venues are wheelchair accessible and both performances will be livestreamed. Please contact gazamonologuesbrattleboro@gmail.com for a link to the livestream.
Suggested donation $5 - $25 per performance; all donations will go to the ASHTAR Theater. Masks required.
